The gathering of the Skelton clan July 21, 2008

Yesterday almost all of Bry’s family descended on our house to help me celebrate my birthday (Ben was in Cyprus and David was in Winchester Bus Station so they were forgiven.)

We had a fantastic day, nattering, playing on the Wii and eating food that Bry cooked.

Happy Birthday to me July 17, 2008

Today has been great, lovely jewellery and a Nev the Bear from Bry, lots of knitting and crochet books from both sets of parents, some cool doggie-themed stuff from Sara, Chris, Pat and Bill and the dogs and lovely pinky clinique makeup from Hefina, Robert, Lewis and Briallen. That’s added to the wool I bought with cash from my brother, sis-in-law and Mikhaela.

I also got to go to Stitch n Craft in Shaftesbury. Usually I turn right when I go in the door to hit the beads, this time I went left first, and into the land of fibre and yarn, Yummy. Then on to Bristol and buying part two of the bead palace, which is now a yarn and fibre and bead palace, but Bead Palace sounds so much prettier. In case you are wondering, the Bead Palace consists of two small Pax wardrobes (the 77 high ones) from ikea with boxes and shelves in them that are see-through. So you open up and behold the beady splendour. So many nice beads and things to admire, so little time.

Off to see Journey to the centre of the earth in 3D in a mo too, who’s a lucky girl then? Me!

A million thank yous to everyone for helping make this a really special day after a really rubbish one yesterday.

Grrrrrr July 16, 2008

Recently the M27 was dug up to add fancy new road information/alert signboards. It took ages. It cost a fortune.

They have just dug them up again to move them back 10 feet to widen the motorway. Did no-one think to mention that this was happening within a short time and perhaps it would have been a good idea to leave these particular signs until the road was widened?

I couldn’t beleive it when I saw the foundations being drilled away. What a waste of public money, particularly annoying when the pay offer we public servants have been insulted by recently is such a big issue.

More felting adventures July 16, 2008

Here’s what I got up to on the Isle of Wight when Bry was sleeping in.

The tendrilly bis are going to be sewn on in a twiny-vine impersonation.

And some more vessels – with brighter colours this time. I’ll be beading onto these to finish them off.

 

The pink was has a lovely lime green interior which doesn’t really show here. The green and yelllow one has voids in the sides. Both have ribs in a poppy-seed-head fashion.

Here they are, in glorious technicolour. Phew – only frogged on the first one, second one worked fine till the Kitcheners stitch at the end – then I made a weeny mistake. It doesn’t really show but I know it is there. Grrrrrr. Bry still says I should have given up with one and sold it to the one-legged lady at the festival.

Briallen and Mikey’s Bolero July 16, 2008

Here’s what I’ve been up to lately. Progress so far on Bri’s bolero. This is a good one for knitting in public, as you don’t need to concentrate too much.

Anyway, I’m knitting Bri’s direct from the pattern and Mikey’s from my head as she is too big for the size range – hence the 2 at once approach. Seems to be working so far.

Oh look, a bright shiny new Ikea in Southampton. They started putting the blue bits on the outside this week. The best bit is the location, right next to West Quay and John Lewis…mmmmm…wooly heaven.
